Course Objectives

At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:

1) Describe methods of First Trimester perinatal NT, NB, TR and biochemistry screening  forchromosomal, heart and other abnormalities and perinatal risk.

2) Describe First Trimester NT, NB, and TF biochemistry and other ultrasound markers.

3) Discuss how the combination of NT/NB/freeBeta/PAPP-A detects 91 to 97% of Down syndrome, trisomy-18 and -13.

4) Explain the clinical and patient counseling issues regarding First Trimester Prenatal Screening and Pregnancy Management Protocol.

5) Perform an 11-13 Week ultrasound examination, measure NTs and assess NTs and TFs according to Fetal Medicine Foundation Standards

Audience

Physicians, sonographers, midwives, nurse practitioners and genetic counselors will benefit from attending.

Course Credentials

Once successful, you will receive a certificate to acknowledge successful completion of the theoretical component of The 11-13+6 Week Scan”.

Ultrasonographers/physicians will then be eligible to submit images to Ms. Naomi Greene of FMF USA for step 2 of the NT/NB/TR credentialing program (note: the image audit fee is $50.00 which is not included with this theory course registration).

This course has been approved by the SDMS for a total of 4 CME credits for sonographers.  For physicians, this event is an accredited group learning activity under Section 1 of the Framework of CPD options for the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This program has been accredited for 5 MAINPRO-M1 credit.

10) Screening by Ultrasound at 16 to 23 Weeks: Dr. Eric Deigan

11) Multiple Pregnancies: Dr. Eric Deigan
